In less than 50 years, Japan’s population went from young to super-aged. European countries are gaining, but at a different pace

In demographic terms, a country is young if the share of its 65+ population is less than 7%; aging if it is 7 to 13%; aged if it is 14 to 20%; and super-aged if the percent of its 65+ population is 21% or more.
